Porl (Passenger &!rvice Charge) (Amendment) Regula tions, 1997

IN exereise of the powers conferred by section 52 of the Malta

Maritime Authority Act, 1991 , the Minister for Transport and Pons, in

COflSultatioo wilh the Malta Maritime Authority and wilh the concurrence

of the Minister for Economic Affairs and Finance. has made the

following regulations:-

(I) These regulations may be cited as the Port (Passe nger

Service Charge) (Amendment) Regulations, 1997 and shall be read and

construed asone with the Port (Passenger Service Charge) Regulations.

1994, hereinafter referred to as "the princ ipal regulations~ .

These regulations shall come into force on th e 1st

February, 1997 .

For par.lgnlph (a) of regulation 3 of the princi pal regulations

there shal l be substituted the following:-

"(a) For the services and facilities provided for departi ng

passe ngers at a port, there shall be payable to the Authority by the

ship owner or ship's master or agent. as the case may be. a fee of

Lm8 in respect of each depaning passenger commencing a voyage

from Mal ta and who does nOi return on the same day of depatlure

(day-ret urn uip) and a fee ofLm4 in respect of each other passenger

embarki ng on his ship.".
