Methadone (Prescribing Bnd Dispensing)

(Amendment) Rules,l996

IN exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 afthe Dangerous

Drugs Ordinance, the Minister for Socia] Development has made the

foUowing rules:-

I. These rules may be cited as the Methadone (Prescribing and

Dispensing) (Amendment) Rules, 1996,and shall be read and construed

as one with the Methadone (Ptescribing and Dispensing) Rules, 1984.

hereinafter called "the principal rules".

For the proviso to rule 4 of the principaJ rules. there shall be

substitUied the following: -

"Provided that in exceptional circumstances. the designated

practitioner may in writing authorise the prescribing Of supply of

such drug in any other form as may be indicated for the patient

under his care," .

In rule 6 of the principal rules, for the words " psychiatrist in

charge of a designated clinic" there shall be subsulUted the words

"designated practitioner".
