Telephone Service (Amendment) (No.2)

Regulations, 1996

IN exercise ofrhe powers conferred by seelion 37 of the Telemaha

Corporalion Act, the Board, with the approval of the Ministe r for

Transport , Communications and Technology and with the concurrence

of the Minister of Finance, has made the following regulations: -

( I) These regulations may be cited as Ihe Telephone Service

(Amendment) (No.2) Regulations, l996, and shall be read and construed

as one with the Telephone Service Regulations, 1972 . hereinafter

referred 10 as "the principal regulations".

(2) These regulations shall be deemed to have come into

force on the l si March, 1996.

Immediately at the end of ilcm 23 o f the Second Schedule to

the principal regulations thcre shall be added the following proviso:-

" Provided that in the case o f a telecare subscriber availing

hi mself of a telecare unit described at paragraphs (a) or (b) above

and who proves to the satisfaction of the Chairman that he lives

alo ne and is in possessio n of th e Pink Card issued by th e

Department ofSoeial Security ,there shall not be charged any rental

charge for the telecare un it as long as the subscriber contin ues 10

satisfy both men tioned conditions.".
