Exclusive Aareements (Bklck ExempUoo) ReplaUoas. 1996

IN exercise of the powers conferred by subsection ( I) of scction 8

of lheCompelilion Act, 1994, the Minister fOf &onomic Services, after

consultation with the Commission fOf Fair Trading, has made the

following regulalions:-

I. These regulations may be cited as the Exclusive Agreements

(Block. Exemption) Regulations, 1996.

These regulations shall come into force on the 1st August.

1996 and shall have effect until the 31st January . 1997 .

Exclusive agreements which were entered into prior to the

31st July, 1996 and still in force thereafter. and being agreements which

fall under the categories listed hereunder, shall be exempt from the

provisions of subsection ( I) of section S of the Competition Act, 1994

(a)

Exclusive Distribution Agreements;

Exclusive Purchasing Agreements;

(c)

Franchising Agreements; and

Beer and Beverage Agreements.
