Commissioners ror Justice (Sen'ice by Post) Rules, Im

IN exe rcise o f the powers conferred by sections 6 and 13 of the

Commissioners for Justice Act. the Ministe r of Justice and the Ans has

made the following ru les:-

ll1ese rules may be cited as the Commissioners for Justice

(Service by Post) R ules, 1995.

In these rules. unless the co ntext otherwise requires -

~ ACI~ means the Commissioners for Justice Act;

~s ummon s~

means any act issued by the Execu tive Police

charging a person with a sched uled offence in acco rdance with

su bsection (2) of sectio n 5 of lhe Act.

( 1) Copies of su mmons to be served by post shall be enclosed

in an envelope bearing the wo rds "Commissioners for Justice in a

prominenl place and at the lime of postin g an applica tion for an advice

of delive ry shall be made.

(2) The officer:s of the Executive Police detailed by the

Com missioner of Police with the duty of effecting service by post

shaH-

(a) present the relative e nvelope. with the copy of the

summons enclosed, at the posl office;

Cb) note o n the o riginal of the summons the number given by

the postal authorities to the envelope in which the copy of the

summo ns is cnclosed for posti ng: and

(c) attach to the original of thc summons the advice of

receipt delive red b)· the postal a uthorities for examina tion by the

Commissioner for Justice before whom the person charged i510 be

brought.
