IN e~e~ of the powen conferred by section 52 of the Malta

Maritime Authority Act. 1991 , the Minisoer for Transport , Communi-

calions and T«hnoklgy, in col1§uhaljon with the Malta Maritime Au-

thority and wj.h the concurrence of the Mini$l.e r of Finance, has made

.he following regulations:-

I. ( I) These regulations may be dted as the Port Rales

(A.m:ndment) Regulations, 1994, and shall be read and construed as

one with the Pon Rates Regulations. 19611, hereinafter referred to as

~t he principal regul .. ions~.

(2) These regulations shall come into force on the 1st

~ Fint Schedule to the principal regulations shall be

amended as follows

(a) in lhe Table in r an I thereof-

(i) for the figures $hown under Columm 2 and J of

paragraph (c) there shall be substituted the figures M2.45,O~

(ii) for the figures shown under Columns 2 and J of

Forparagraph 2 of the Fourth S<.:hedule tothe princip~.1 regula ·

tions there shall be substituted tbe following:-

M2. When any work is undenaken, as referred 10 hereunde r .

at the request of any ship by Ihe Authority Or its con tractor. that

ship shall pay -

(a) 10 the AUlhority all fees payable under the Port

Worken Ordinance. Cap. 17 1. in respect of port wnrkers em·

pl?yed in connection with pori work carried out during night

shtfts. Sundays Of National or Public Holidays;

(b) to the AuthorilY or its contractor, in addition 10 the

rales charged for eacb Ion as specified in the First. Third. Fifth

and Seventh S<.:hedule. a shift rale of 12 cents per Ion on the

loading and unlo.:ldingof cargo operations;

(c) to Ihe Authority or its contractor. as the case may

be. such Olher expenses as are reasonably incurred to provide

the services requested . other than the provision of port work·

en.

Part V of Ihe Fifth Schedule to the principal regulations shall

be amended as foUows

(a) for lhe words "delivery of import cargoM in sub-parag·
