Statute 115 - European Doc:umetltatlon and RtsHrch Centre

IN exercise of Ihe powers conferred upon him by sections 30 (3) and

31 (6)of lhe Education Act (Cap. 321), theOtancelloroflhe Universit~

of M alta has promulgated tbe following statute made by the Council of

the University of Malta by virtue of the powers oonferred upon il by

Kctioos 33 and 48(3) of thc:: said Act

I. This statute may be cited as Statute I IS -

European Documentation and

Research Centre.

There is hereby established Ihe European Documentation and Research

Centre. hereinarter referred to as ~the CenlTe~, al the University of Maha,

incorporating the European D<x:umentation Centre established to lleJ'V(: a~a reposi tory

of European Community documents as well as a resource centre for students and tile

general public, and furthermore act as a focal point for the promotion of European

Studies, in particul ar by

(a)

organising and running specific courses in European Studies;

(b) o rganising interdisciplinary studies;

undertaking and publishing resear~h;

(c)

(d) collaborating with other University bodies, with the Academy for

Diplomatic Studies . and with Governmental and Non·Governmental

organisations in projects of mutual imerest.

The Centre will continue to provide the services of a Documentation Centre

which will house Community Documentation in an area designated as such and clearly

distinct from any other library facilities.

(I)

The Centre shall be governed by a Board which shall be composed as

follows

Chairman: The Rector or his deputy;

Vice-Chairman: The DiTCClor of the Centre;

A person appointed by Council;

T wo members appointed by Senate;

Three members co-opted by the Board.

The Board may also appoint a panel of foreign advisers.
