I. The re is hereby established a Ce ntre for Communication Technology (CC T)

al the Univcrsity of Malta. illOOrponning the prtscn t Audio-Visual Laboratory. 1i1c

Language Laboratory, the audio and visual resources of Ihe Library and the

Educational Technology Resources Cenlre.

The aim Oflhc Cen n e shall 11c

(a) the provi5ion of Audio and Visual media suppon in both hard .... are and

soft ware to all Departments. J nstitutes and staff of t he University requiring it in the

fulfilmc:nt of their functions. and providing the Uni"eni ty authorities with

consuhancy and advice on all mancrs related to A. V. facilities and applications;

(b) the acq uisition of materials. the proper maintenance and facilitation of

the IlK of a ~nd and vision library, of language and vidw laboratories. and

educational technology .... orkshops;

(c) servicing the competent Faculties with courses and ot he r requirements

(including IXKlrdination of the Communication courses), carrying out research

and otherwise promoting scien tific work in the area of communication studies;

(d) collaborating with other institutions in the provision of training and

asMstance wi th project .... ork in the A.V. field .

J. (1) Tbe Ce ntre shall begovcfMd bya Board.

(2) The Board shall consi~t of tbe following

'The Centre shall have a DireClorand staff.

(2) The Director shall be appointed b~ tile Council of the University ':If

Malla for a period of three years, afte r a call for appl ications, from among the academIc

$Iaff of the Universi ty.

(3) The Director sball be responsible for the day-to-day management orthe

Cen tre and Ihe implementalion of policy a$ determined by the Board.

The Centre (CCf) shall offer in structional support 5ervices to the University,

Faculties and Institutes as requested and appropria te. In particular, the Centre sball

provide

(a) the use of common facilities. equipment and its maintenance tosethe r

with coordination and su pervision of studies in the area of Comm unkation

Studies;

(b) the Centre for Dimncc Learning (CDL) with office space . use of

common facilities. equipmen t and its maintcnanoe for the production of materials

as req uired by the CO L in the fulfilmen t of it I statute

(e) the Institute of Linguistics (iLl with office space, the use of common

facilities and a language laboratory complu (incl uding equipment and its

maintenance) for the fulfilment of its aims as prescribed in its statute;

The Finance Officer of the University of Malta shall be the Treasurer of the

1. Amendments \0 this Stalute may be proposed by the Board and shall require

the approval of the Council of the UniYcl'$ily of Malta.
