IN exercise o f the po»-ers conferred upon him by section$ 28(5) and

29(6) of !he Education Act. 1988. the OUlIlccllor of the Univc ~ty of

Malla has prom ulgated the following Bye-Laws made by the Board of

the Facul ty of Educa lion of the Un ivc~ly of Malta in vin uc: of the

flO\"'CI'5 conferred upon ;1 by 'lection 3S( I) of the said A<:t, and which

hH~'C been apprm'cd by the Senateofthc Univcrsilyof Malla as requ~d

by section 35(2) of tile said Act.

1.2 A candidate who holds a post of A55islant Head of School or a higher

admi nist rative position in Education will also be conside~d for admission to the course.

3 .3 A candidate completes suQl;C:$Sfully each part of the oour.;e , if he obtains a

minimum of eleven credits in that pan.

3.4 The result obtained in each unit is given in one of the following grades

according to meri t: for I slICCessfully rompleled unit A , B. C. 0 in de$co: nding order: F

signifIeS ' failure .

3.5 A candidate shall not be allowed to continue the course if in any pan of the

course he fails to obtain a minimum ofninc credits.

3 .6 A candidate who in eillicr pan of the ooune obtains a minimum of nine

credits but fail$IO obtain eleve n credits, shall be aLlowed to re~it tile failed study-units

once within a period of 12 months from the SI.l11 of that part. Credits obtailled following

a re-sit shall carry the minimum grade.

3.7 A candidate shall be: required to obtain In aggregate minimum pass-mark in

the Final ElIamination which shall consist of two synoptic a:amination pape~.

Candidat~ who fail the Final Examination shall be allowed to re"<'lit the Final

Examination once within a period of 12 months from tile cnd of the course. A pass·mark

will be: the highest mark thatcan be a .... anIed.

3.8 A candidate shall be: required to submit son:cssfv.Uy a Long Essay of

approximately cighttbowand words. o r a project deemed to be: of equivalent academic

standard. A o;andid;ttc who fails the Long Ew\y/Projea shan be allowed to re-submit it

onoe within • period of twelve months.
