IN exercise of the powers IXIn ferred by sections 32 and 33 of t he

Environment Protwion Act , 1991. Ihe Minisle r of Education and the

:nterior has made the following regulations:-

These regulations may be cited as the Fungus Rod; (il.Gebla

tal-~ neral) Nature Reserve Regu lalions. I992.

In tllese regulations ~ flonl and fauna are 10 be construed as

All the surface area of Fungus Rock (i/.Ctb/a ra/·(;trlull/)

shall be a Nature Reserve.

(I) 1be ki lling. c:apl ure. collection, Inlpping. maintai ning in

captivity, tuidermy, commercial exploitation, as well as pic king and

,"'" I.v., hunting of any species of flora and fauna in or from the Fungus Rod

(i/·Ctblllllll-Gtnt ral) Nature Reserve is proh ibited.

(2) The Minister may remove any such prohibition as

referred in paragraph (1) 01 this regulation for tbe purpose of scientific

study in panicula r CastS .

granted by lhe Minister for educational and scicnliflC purposes, and in

granting such permission the Min ister may impose such conditions as he

may deem appropriute.

An y peTSOt1 who IXInlravenes any of the provisi'>rts of these

regulalions or any condition of a perm ission granted unde r the last

preo;eding regulation . mall be liable on conviction to imprisonment for a

term 001 excuding three months or 10 a fine (mu/IQ) not exceeding five

hundred Maltese liri or to both su~h imprison ment and fine.
