IN exercise of the powersconferrcd by section 8 of the Conditions

o f Employment (Regula tion) Act. the Ministerfor Social Policy, having

received proposals from the Transport Equipment, Me tal and Allied in -

dustries Wages Council concerning the conditions of e mployment of the

employees in relation to whom the said Wages Council operates, has

made the following o rder: -

( I) This order may be dIed as the Transport Equipment.

Metal and Allied Industries Wages Courtdl Wage Regulation (Ame nd-

ment) Order. 1990. and shall be read and conStrued as one with the

Transport Equipmelll, Metal and Allied Irtdustrie5 Wages Council

Wage Regu lation Order. 19n, he reinaft er referred to as Mthe principal

orde r",

This order shall come into force on the 9th Apri l, 1990.

2, In sub-paragmph (I) of paragraph 7 of the Schedule to the

principal order immediately after the words "for all time worked on the

seventh day" there shall be added the words Mand sh all be enti tled to

overti me pay at the rate of double-time for all time worked on a custom-

ary holiday or vacation leave not granted" .

3, For paragraph 8 of the Sched ult to the prind pal order there

shall be substituted the fo ll owing:-

(I) In addition to the mlD ,m um weekly rest to

whieh whole-time employees may be entitled under parag-

raph 6, whole-time employees sha ll be cnti tled to thc Na -

tional Holidays and 10 all public ho lida ys wit h full pay, and to

the following vacation lea ve nOI being less than-

(a) fou r working weeks and one working day du r-

ing Ihe calendar years 1988 and 1989

(b) four workin g weeks and twO workingdaysdur-

ing the calendar year. 1990

(c) four working weeks and three working days

during lhe calendar year, 1991;

(d) four work ing weeks and four working days

during the calenda r year 1992 and du ring any calendar

Provided Ihal when a whol e-time employee is in e m-

ploymenl fOT less than twelve mon ths during any calendar

year. he shall be e ntitled to such part of the s.aid vacation

leave as is in proportion \0 the number of monlhson employ-

ment.

(2) For the purpose of Ihis paragraph -vacation

Icave~ means leave with pay which may be availcd of on days

agreed upon be tween the em ployer a nd the employee, pro-

vided that one day vacation leave during 1988 and 1989. two

days vacation leave during 1990. three days vacation leave

during 1991 and four days vacation leave during 1992anddur-

ing any calendar year the reafte r shall nOI form pan of any

sh utdown and shall be granted by the employer as optional

leave in addi tion 10 any opt io nal leave the employee may

have been enti tled 10 on the 9th November, 1988. M,

4. Paragraph 9 of the Schedule to the principal order sha ll be

amended as folJows: -

(a) sub-paragraph (2) thereof and the proviso thereto shall

be deleted;

(b) in par .. graph 9 as now re numbered for the words

"National Insurance Act, 1956" there $haLL be substituted the

words M$ocial Security Act , 198r.

5. In paragraph 12 of the Schedule to the principal o rder, for the

wo rds "National Insurance Act, \956 M there shall be $ubstituted the

words M$ocial Security Act, I987 M.
