TRAFFI C REG ULAT ION ORDINANCE (CAP. 65)

IN exereise of the PQwers confe rred by section 28 of the Public

T ranspor1 Authorit y Act. 1989. the Pri me Minister has made the

following order:-

I. This order may be cited as th e Omnibuses Regulations

(Ame ndment) O rder. 1990. and the ame nd ments affected there by shall

be read and construed as one wi lh the Omnibuses Regulation s, 1948,

he reinafte r referred to as ~t he principal rt'gulalions-.

In rt'gulalion 2 of the principal regul alions, for the words ·'of

the Comm issioner of Police or any ot her pe rso n acting on his behalf,"

the re shall be substit uled the words "of th e Publi c T mnspor1 Autho rit y

J, For regul ation 3 of the principHI regulat ions the re shall be

substi.uted .he following

-3. Ro ute vehicles shall be run on the prescribed route in

accordance wilh a roster 10 be prepared from time to time by the

Cent ral Office for Scheduled Serviccs subject to the approval orthe

" ublk Transport Autho ri ty. The ro.;te r Sh1111 be d rawn up in such

munner as to give in re spect of each o mnibus 10 the sat isfaction of

the Public Transport Au thority equal opportu nity as far as

possible ....

4, For regulation 4 of the principal regula tions there shall be s..t>.<i""",

withdraw an omnibus licence if the licensee refuses, wi. hout just

cause , to comply with the Authority' s inslructio ns or wilh the

instructions o f any person acting o n its be half.

5, For regulation 5 o f the principa l regulat ions there shall be

subsli1uted the following

"5. The Public T ransport Authority may group any number

of prescribed rOut es in order to place lhem under onc Route

Man1lger; an d thc Au thority may give such direction as may in its

view be necessary for linking one route with a nother:'.

For regulation 6 of the principal TCgulations there shall be

substitu ted the following

"6. The Public Transport Authority may o rde r private

omnibuses ei ther to perform rou te work or to perform any other

service which may, in the Authority's discretion, be necessary:'.

1. In regulatioll7 of th e princi pal regu lations, for th e words "by

the Commissioner of Police." the re shall be subst ituted the words" by

the Public T ransport Authority. ".

Regulation 8 of the principal regulations shall be dele ted.
