IN exercise of the powers confe rred by ~Iion 28 of the Public

Transporl Au thority Act, 1989. the Prime Minister has made the

following order:-

This order may be ci ted as Ihe Motor Vehicles Insu rance

(Third-Party Risks) O rdinance (Ame ndme nt) Orde r, 1990, a nd Ihe

amendmen ts affected thereby sha ll be read and const rued as one wi th

the MOlor Ve hicles Insura nce (Third Pany Risks) O rd inance.

Section 2 of the pri ncip.allaw shall be amended as follows: -

(a) immed iately afte r the defi nition of "prescribed" the re

shall be inse rted th e following detinit ion

.. "Pu blic T ranspOn AUlhoril y~ means lhe Public

Transport Authori ty established by section 3 of th.: Public

T ranspon Authorit y Act, 1989;H; and

(b) immediate ly afte r the new definition Hpublic T ransport

Authori ty" the re shall be insc rted the fo ll owing de finition

.. "public transport vehicle" has the same meaning siven

to it in section 20fth e Public Transport Au thority Act, 1989;".

J . Subsection (I) of section 23 of the pri ncipal law shall be

amended as fol1ows:-

(a) in paragra ph (e) the reof, for the words "the withdrawal

thereor." there shall be substi tuted the words "the wit hdrawal

thereof:"; and

(b) im mediately after paragraph (e) as amended there sha ll

be inserted the following proviso to subsection (I)

" Provided that in the case of a puhlic transport vehicle. the

power 10 ma ke regula tions given by this 5ubsection shall be exclusively

exercised by the Public Transport A uthority .~_
