IN exercise of the poweBoonfcffed upon him by se<:tions 28(5) and

29(6) of the Educa tion Act , 1988. the: Chance llo r of the University of

Malta has prom ulgated the fonowing Bye-laws made: by the: Board of

the Facult y of Eduealion o f the Universi ty of Malta in virtue: of the

powers oon ferred upon it by section 35( 1) of the said Act. and which

have been approved by the Senate of the Univc:rsi ty of Malla as required

by section 35(2) of the said Ad.

Citation

These Bye-Laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws for the Diploma in

Educat ional Adm inistrat ion and Manageme nt , and are applicable only

to the COUT$C whi ch started in 1987.

Admission KtqLlI~l1K'nts

1.1 A candidate shall be admitted to the OOLlr5e for the Diploma in EdLlcational

Administratio n and Management if he is in possession of teacher certification (i.e.

Teache r CUlificat e, Bachelor in EdLlcation Degree. P05t-GradLlale Certificate in

Edocation , o r eq Lliva lent qualification). togethe r with a minimum of five years tcaching

experienct .

1.2 Candidates who hold 3 posl of AssiHant Head of School o r a higher

administrative position in Education will also be ronsidered for admission to the

roLlTSc .

),7 A ca ndidat e who fails five or more units in ei ther Part I or Part II of the course

shall be required to withdraw from the course.

),8 A ca ndid ate shall be awarded the Oiploma in Educational Administ ration

and Management if he sa tisfies the above assessment requireme nts and obtains an

aggregate of 45 perce nt of the fi nal assessment mark . The final assessment mark shall be

based on the following five. equ ally weighted, componems

(a)

the assessed course wo rk covered during Part I of the course

the assessed course work covered during Part II of the ~'Oursc

(b)

(c) Paper I - a three-hour wtitten e KaminHtion in the theoretical

perspectives for the stud y of educational administration

(d) Paper 11 - a three- hour wtinen e xam ination in thc planning 3nd

ma nagement (If ed ucationa l institutions

the long essaylproject.

),9 Regula r ane ndance shall be ta ken into conside rat ion in reaching the final

assessme nt mark . Candidates who do not atte nd regularly shall be requi red \0 withd raw

from the course .

. 1.10 Marking in all areas of the course shall be on the percentage scal~ with ·a

percent as the minimum passmar k_

1 On the successful completion of the course a candidate shall be awarded the

Di ploma in Ed ucational Administration and Managemen t.
