Family Boaus Order, 1989

IN exercise of the powerll conferred by section 9JA of the Social

Seeurity Act, 1987. the Minister for Social Poliey, with the concurrence

of the Min ister of Firiance, has made the following Order: -

( I) This Order may be cited as the Family Bonm Order.

1989. (2) This Order shall be deemed to have come into force on

the 7th January , 1989.

A family bonus equ ivalent to Lml perweek shall be paid by the Rot< 01

Director of Social5eeurity in aeoordance with paragraph J of this Order Family 8001 ...

to the recipient of allY of the allowances payable under and in

accordance with sections 83 to 90 of the principal Act.

J. The family bonus referred to in paTagTllph 2 of this Order shall !'or-M '"

be paid at intervals of 26 weeks Dnd shall . in any calendar year, fa ll due '-~',.-

(a) as regards the first payment, on the day when the second

quarte rly payment of any allowance under sections 83 to 90 of the

Social Security Aet, 1987 falls due in accordance with sub-

paragraph (iv) of pa ragraph (b) of subsection (I) of section 102 of

IlK: said Act; and

(b) lIS regards the second payme nt. on the day when the

founh quanerly payment of any allowance under the aforesaid

sections 83 to 90 falls due in aocordanoe with the aforesaid su b-

pa ragraph (iv).

Every payment 35 aforesaid shall cover any family bonus that hriod..,..mI

may be payable in respect of lhe 11consecutive weeks in arrearll , orpart :r:;::.po~

the reof. as the case may be. ending on the last day immediately prior to BooIut.. .....,.

the day when the payment of the family bonus falls due in tenns of

paragraph 3 of this Order and any family bonus Ihat may be payable in

respect of the 13 conseelltive wee ks in adva nce. or part th ereof. as the

ease may be, starting from the firllt day immediate ly after the day when

the payment of the family bonus faus due in te nns of the aforesaid

paragraph 3 .

.5. Family Bonus shall cease to become payable on the same day

that any of the allowances payable under and in accordance with the F...iIJ 8001 ...

provisions of sections 83 10 900r the Social Securi ty Act , 1987 ceases 10

become payable; and for this purpose the provisions o f subsection (3) of

section 102 of the said Act shall apply in the same way as they may be

applicable wi th respect to any o f the allowances payable under the

provisions o f the aforesaid sections 83 1090 with regards 10 Ihe sa me

beneficiary.
