Payment of FHII 10 Jurors R~gulations , 1989

IN exercise of the: powCI1l conferred by subsection (3) of section

616 of the Criminal Code, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of

the Interior and Justice, with the concu rrence o[ the Minister of

Finance, has made the following rcgulations:-

I. (I) The.ose-regulations may be cited as the Payment of Fees

to J urors Regu lations. 1989.

(2) These regulations shall be deemed to have come inlO

force on ht Janua ry , 1989.

In these regulations ,

"juror" means a person who is sworn in as a juror in

accordance wi th the provisions of the Criminal Code;

~ Registrar" means the Registrar of the Superior Courri.

1. (I) Subject to the provisio ns of subsection (2) of this section,

as soon as may be at the e nd o f every trial by jury, a juror shall be

paid by the Registrar a fee of Lm7, for each day that that person had

served B$ a juror

Provided that no such fee as aforesaid shaU be paid for any

day in which the Cou n was nOI in session and the jurors wereexempled

by tbe Coun from attendance on that day.

Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (1) of this

sedion, no fee as provided under these regulations shall be due to a

juror for the first three days in any month in whicb he scrved as a

juror. Nor shall any such fee be due 10 a person who conlinued 10

receive any salary or wages from his employment during the lime he

served as a juror.
