IN exercise of Ille powers conferred b~ section 4 of Ihe Conditions

of Employment (Rcgul~tion) Act. th e Min is te r for Social Policy, on the

recommendation of the Labour Board has made the followin go rdcr: -

I. This o rde r ma y be cited as the Wage Increase National

Standa rd Order, 1989, and it shall come Into effect on Ihe ]51 January,

1990.

In this o rder -

"Act" means the Conditions of Employment ( Regulat io n)

AC1;

- ordinary increme nt " mea ns a n annual or periodic additio n 10

wages 10 which an employee is em itled by way of an adva nce from

onc poil11 10 another of a pTe~CICrnlin cd wage scale;

"whole- time em ployee" shall have the same mea ning as is

assiglled 10 il in any rewgnised conditiolls o f em ploym ent in

IICCOrdance with sectioll 10 of the Act.

J. With effect from 1st J anu ary. 1990. every em ployer shall

increase the wages of eve ry whol e·time empl oyee in hi s e mpl oyment by

nOl lells than Lm 3 a week

Provided th al. in those: cases where a n agreeme nt already

on a llY date during 1990 otherwise than by way of ordinary incremcnlS.

incrC:ISC of Lm3 per wcc k with effect fro m the 1st Janu ary 1990.

The provisions of thi s Order shall nOl ap ply where an

agrec mellt provides for an increase of not less than Lm 3 pe r wee k wi th

dfeC1 on all Y date during 1990. prO\'ided that Lm3 per "'<ce ll o f any 5\lch

agreed increase shall be payable with d fect from 1st January, 1990.
