IN exercise o f the powers con fe rred by sectio n 17 of the T raffie

Regula~ ion

Ordinance and by section 28 o f the Public Transport

Auth orit y ACI, 1989. the Prime Mini ste r has made the follo wing

regul ations:_

These regula tions may be ci ted as the Motor Om nibuses

(Scheduled and Unscheduled Service) ( Am end men t) Regu la tio ns,

1989, and sha ll be read an d co nstrued asone with the Motor Omnibuses

(Sched uled and Unscheduled Se rvice) Regulat ions, 1978. he re inafter

refe rred to as "the principal regulations".

Immediately after regulation 7 o f the principal regulations,

the re shall be added the fo llowing new regulation: -

(I ) Notwithstanding the preceding provisions of

these regulations, transpon of all school child ren shall be

operated in accordance with the provisio ns of this regulation.

(2) Whe n the Di reclor of Education (henceforth

in Ihi$ regulation to be called "Ihe Director"). ma k.es

provision that ce rtain routes fo r Ihe tran sport of school

children be serv iced by mOlOr o mnibuses be longin g 10

licencus of a motor omn ibus authorisc:d 10 ope rate in any

categQry .of unscheduled service , such rou tes shall be

allocaled 10 be serviced excl usively by molor om ni buses

licen5Cd for unsched uled service, by the Central O ffice for

Unschedu led Services.

(3) Whe n the Director makes provision Ihat

ce rt ain routes fo r Ihe transport of school childre n beserviced

by motor Qmn ibu5CS belonging to licelK:Ccs of an omnibus

aut horisc:d 10 operate sched uled services, such routes shall be

allocated to be serviced exclusively by omnibu ses licensed fQr

sched ul ed services. which on the particul ar day are nQt

de tailed for work on roster, by the Cent ral OffICe for

Scheduled Se rvices.

(4) When onc of the Ce ntral Offices dee ms th at

any pa rticular se rvice cannot be perfonned by an omnibus 10

which il has been assigned. the Director is to be informed a nd

he may authorise the Ce ntral Offw:e of Sched uled Se rvices tQ

assign om ni buses licenced for sched ul ed services for such

$Crvicc and in C<I$C of need. with the au thorisatiQn of the

Publie Tansport Authority. even omnibuses with detail of

roster in the particular day .

(5) The Oire.::tor may make $Cparate provisions

for routes to be $Crvieed by minibuses.

(6) Wbc:n any route so assigned to be $Crviced by a

particular OffICe. is not so serviced, the Director ma y have

the said route assigned to a nother Office .
