IN exercise ofll1e jXlWers conferred upon him bysections28(S) and

29( 6) of lht Educatio n Act. 1988. the Cha ncellor of Ihe Universi ty of

Ma l1 a has promulgated the following s13tute made by the Council of the

U niversilY of Malta in virtue of the powers conferred upon it by section

3 1 of the said Act .

Citation

This Statute mlly be cited as Statu te 100 -

General Provisions

I. The pro"isions o f this Statute shall apply 10 any insti lule. o r

Uni"ersity in lerms ofScClion )1 of the Ed ucation Act. 1988. and whidl

rece ives funds from. or through. the University . unle" the Statute

An in sti tute shull be governed by a Board. th e Chairman of

which shall be lhe Rector or his nomi nated deputy

Provided that. in special cases. the Slalule o f an [nSli tule may

provide for lhe Chairman of Ihe Boa rd bein!! someone: o lher Ihan

Ihe Recto r in which ca>e the Rectorshall be a membe r of the Board .

2. 1 The Finance Officer or lhe University sha ll be: the Treasurer

of the Institute. but he may. with the wriuen approva l of the Rector.

nominate a senior membe r o f his staff to act in his stead .
