purpose a ny such additiona l information as he may deem proper to

obtain

sponsor is required to hold a spc:cirlC qualification and the persot1 in

whose respect the application is made residcs in a plD~ outside Malta.

(2) Where an applicant resides abroad and the application is

made in a foreign country. for the purpose of these regulations any

reference in the forms se t out in the Fint S<:hedule hereto to a

person who under the law o f that country is empowe red to admin ister

shall be signed by the dec1anlnl before a Commissioner for Oaths

Pro~ided IhaC where the declarant resides abroad and the

declaration is made in a foreign country, il may be signed by him before

any person who under Ihe law of that country is emlXlwered to

administer oaths.

S. (I) When it is proposed 10 make an order under section 9 of

the Act depriving a person of his citizenship of Malta. the notice

required by subsection (4) of that section to be given to that person may

be given -

(a) in a case where that person's whereabouts a re known. by

causing the notice to be delivered to him personally or by sending it

to him by post;

(b) in a case where th~t person'S whereabouts are not known,

by sending it to his last known address.

(2) Where the Minister has given notice as aforesaid and the

person to whom it is given wishes 10 apply for an inquiry under

subsection (4) of SCi:tion 9 of the Act. the application shall be made in

writing to the Mini stcr -

(a) if that person is in Malta at the time when the notice is

given to him, within twenly-<>ne days from the giving of the notice

(b) in any other case. within such time. being not less than

twenty-one da~ from the giving of the notice. as the Minister may

determine

Provided that the Minister may in special circumstances at any

time extend the time within which the application may be made.

(3) Any notice given under subsection (4) of section 9 of the

Act shall include a statement of the time wilhin which an application for

an inquiry must be made.

documents as the Minister may require in evidence of applicant 's

qualifications to be registered or. as the case may be, naturalized as a
