Smokeless Tobacco (Ban ) Regulations , 1988

IN exercise of the powers co nferred by section 10 of the Tobacco

(Smoking Control) Act, 1986, the Minister for Social Policy has made

the following reguiat ions:-

I. T hese regu lations may be cited as the Smo keless Tobacco

( Ban) Regulations. 1988.

In these regulations. unless the con text otherwise requires -

"smokeless tobacco" means tobacco promoted or intcn ded for

dipping, sniffing, chewi ng orother form of consumption by mouth,

and includes moist snuff with or without any flavour added to it, dry

tobacco snu ff and chewi ng tobacco. and also incl udes any prepara-

tion conta in ing such items.

J . No person may import, manufacture, prepare, store, keep for

sale, sell or slIpply by way of compensation or otherwise, any smokeless

tobacoo.
