Lotto (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1985

IN exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 of the Public

Lotto Ordinance, tile Minister of Finance has made the followin g

rcgulations:-

oonstrued as onc with Ihe lotio Regulations, 1948. herei nafter referred

to as "the principal reguI3tions~.

(2) These regulations shall be deemed to have come into

force on the 16th July , 1988.

For paragraph (1) of regulat ion 5 of Ihe principal regulations,

there shall be substituted the following

"(I) Wh en the total value of the prizes in a draw exceeds

one hundred and eighty thousand Maltese liri (Lm 180,000) or the

total value of the stakes for a particular draw, whichever is the

less, the amount of each prize shall be reduced proportionately

so that the total va lue of prizes shall not exceed that limit.

Provided that the amount of Lml80,OOO or the total value of

the stakes for a particular draw , as th e case may be, may be

exceeded by not more thao 20% if the Minister responsible for

finance is satisfied that suc h excess is justified on the grounds that

reduction in payment of prizes, were it not for this proviso, would

be minimal and that administrative requirements would warrant

such excess.".
