Wireless Telegraphy (Broadcasl Licence Charges) (A mendment)

IN EXE RCISE of Ihe powers conferred by 5«lion 5 of the

Telegraphy Ordinance. the Prime Minisler has made the

following regula lions: -

I. These regulations may be ciled as th e Wi reless Telegraphy 0,.,;0".

(Broadcast Licence Charges) (Amendment) Regulations. 1988 and

shall be read and construed as o ne with the Wire less Telegraphy

( Broadcast Licence Cha rges) Regu lations. 1962. hereinafter referred 10 Ord. VII

as "the principal re gulations",

Thc Fi rst Schedule to Ih e principal regulations shall be

amended as follows:-

(a) for paragraph (b) of item 2 the reof Iherc shaH be

subst ituted the following

"( b) A licence 10 have in one's possession or underone's

control apparatus for wi reless te legraphy al the premises

specified in the licence in so far as Ihose premises are in the

occupation of Ihe licensee or (as the case may be) in the vehicle

or vessel specified in Ihe licence, and 10 use the apparatus for

purposes of the rcceplion of visual images in colour sem by

television , (not being a licence aut horising Ihe use of

apparatus for wire less telegraphy for the purpose of Ih e

exh ibition of visual images received by television to persons

wh o are charged for viewing such exh ibition)-

(i) for each ponable television

be used exclusively in hOld bedrooms

For the purposes of this Schedule ·'portable television" means a television ap-

paratus which is by construcTion and weight intended to be easily carried, which is cap-

able of being operaTed from direCT current or from both alte rnating and direct currenT

electricity supply, having <In inbuilT aerial system and having a picture TUbe not exce~d­

ing 44 cent imet res measured diagon~lIy.
