Schedule to the Depa rtmcnt of Hcalth (Constitut ion) Ordinance. the

Board for the Pro fcssions Supplcmc ntary to Medicinc . with the

approval of th c Ministcr o f Hcalth . has made the fo llowing regula-

tion~:-

mission. 10 be ca llcd the Board for the Professions Supple mentary to

Medicine El ections Commission. composed of three c lection Com-

missioners.

(2) The Board may also appoi nt a subst illltc Commissioncr

to sit on thc Comm ission in lieu of any member the reof when any such

mcmbe r is . for an y lawful TCru;on. unable 10 sit on the Commission.

Wh en thc Commission is informed by the Chairman that a

vacan cy occurs amongst the elected members of the Boord , it ~hall , as

soon as may bc. cause a no tice to be publi~hed in thc Govcrnment

Oazette and in all daily local ncwspapers sptt"ifying thc place. da)'S and

times during which nominations of cand idates for ciection \0 the Board

will be received by the Registrar.

A candidatc shall be nominated in writing on a form in

acco rdance with the specimen contained in Pa rt I ofthe FiT'!lt Schedule to

these regulations

accordance with the specImen contained in ParI II of the First Schcdule

to those regulations.

If the nomi nations received e~ceed Ihe number of vacllncics 00

the Board. an eJection shall be held. The Commission shall then. as soon

as may bc, publish a nolke in the Governme nt Gazette specifying the

place, the days a nd limes during which the election shall be held and th e

names of the candidates seeking election.

T he ba llot paper to be used forthe purpose oflhe e lectio n shall

be in accordance with the specimen con tained in the Second Schedule to

th.cs~ regulations , and shall be ini tialled by a membe r of the Com-

miSSion.

An y voter, indepe nd ently of his place o f residence. may vote

T he appropriate ballot paper shall be deli'"e red 10 voter.> pe r-

sonally by one of the Election Commissioner.> in the room in which the

ballot booth is placed . and in no case shall any person be remitted to

ta ke any ballot paper o ut of such room nor shall any ballot paper be

take n out of the sight of th e Election Commissioner until it is dropped in ,

the ballot boX". No individual, other than the person ,'oting and E lection

Commissioner. sh all be a llowed in the ballot room .

A vote r shall record his vote in secret by means of one cross

placed against the na me of each candidate fo r whom he votes.

T he Commission shall kee p a record of th e persons who vote.

No voting shall take place after the ex pirat ion of the time

fixed b y the Commission for the voting except by persons who are

present for voting at the eX"piration of such time.

As soon as may be after th e end of the voting the Commission

shall count the votes cast .

14 . When a larger number o f votes than is, required is registered

on th e ballot paper, the ballot shall be declared .inval id by Ihe

Commission_

T he candidates who obtain the largest numbe r of votes shall

be declared elected.

16 . If two or more candidates obtain an equa l number of vales not

a ll of which arc to be declared elected, a partial election amongst those

ca ndidates shall be held in accordance with the provisions ofregu lations

6 to 15 of these regulatIons.

17 . The Commission shall fonhwith report the result of the

election to the R egistrar of the Board who shall forward it 10 the

Min ister of Health for publ ication in the G overnment Gazette.

(1) No appeal shall lie from any decision of the Commission

un less it is made to the Chaim3n of the Board withi n twen ty-four hours

from the decision.

(2) The provisions of paragraph (I) of this regulation shall

not apply to the result of any election held under these regulations,

in which ease the decision of the Commission shall be final.
