IN uercise of Ihe powers conferred by seclion 37 of Ihe TeIemalt.a

Corponllion ACI, 1975, I~ Board. wilh the approval ot the Minister of

Par~s.tatal and PeopIe's In,'cstmenlS, and with t~ concurrence of the

Minister of F inance and CustOlnl, has made t~ following regula-

I , These regulutions may be ciled as Ihe Telephone Service

tAmendmenU Regulations. 1986. and ShHlI be read and COI15lmed as

OIle with lhe Telephone Service Regulation!, 1972, hereinafler reterred '-N,

to as " Ihe PJincipal rcgulations~.

For the words " Postmaster General" and the words "Posts and

Telephoncs DcJXIrtm cnt" wherever Ihey occur in the principal R'gula·

lions. IheR' shall he subsTiTuted in each ease the words "Chairman, Tele-

malta Corporation" and thc words " Tekmalta Corporation" respectively,

l , Regula tion 2 of the principal rt'gulations shall he amended as

(H) immediate ly after the definition of "coin box linc" there

shall be added the foUowing DeW definition

.. "cordless telephone" means a telephone terminal con·

neeled to an exchange line or an extension liDe and integrated

with 01' accompanied by a normal Telephone set; it COI15ists of

1WO pans which art' connected by a rndio link ; a fixed pan and

a portable pan. pennittinJllhe same basic functions as a normal

tel .. phone set within a lim ited area around the rIXed part" and

there shall be added the following new definition

tions a Group 2 Telcfax means a machine capable of tranS'

at lhe rale of one minute per ISO 11.4 size docurDCnt;",

shall be substitUh~d the following

Entries in bold type may be allowed against the

payment. in respect of eaeh issue of the directory, of an

additional charge 01 Lm I 0 per entry in the Genera I Al phabeti·

cal List of Telephone Subscriber. and LmlO to cover the same

entry appearing both in the alphabetical and in the numerieal

lists of the Alphabetica l and Nu mc:rical List of Telex Su]).

words shall be limited to a maximum of 20 chnracten for the

description of a profession. vocation. busi ness or trade. and of

3() characters for academic qua lifications; and there &hall be

payable to Telema ha Corpora tion for such inclu5ion in every

issue the fonowi ng charges

entries in bold type or for additional parlicutars in the General

Alph abetical List of Telephone Subscribers shall be made on

the " Telephone Directory Enlries Form ~ which shall be duly

tomp1cttd and signed by the subscriber.

l iB. i 1) A subscriber mny be allowed to have his

name and address omitted from the General Alphabetical List

of Telephooe Subscribers agaimt the payment to Teicmalb

Corporation of a charge of Lm20 in respect cA each issue of

the diredory

Provided that such charge shall nOI be payable if

the subscriber proves to lhe satisfaction of the OIa;rmao that

his oou5ebold·s gross income cakulated on an annual basis

does 001 CJ;ceed Lm2.<XX).

(2) Applications for such omislion and for the

exemphOn 01 payment, if applicable. marked " Directory

Omission". shall be made in writing to the Chainnan. Tele-

maim Corporation.

Subscribers may be e>;em pted fronl the payment of
