IN exercise of tile powers conferred by Section 3 of the Quality

Control (E.xports. Imports and Local Goods) Act, 1971, tlte Ma lta

Board of Standards has made the following order:_

1 This order may be cited as the Radio and/or TV Signal

Amplifiers Order. 1986. and may be referred to as Order No. M 17 of

1986.

1.2 This order shall become operat ive on a date after the lapse of

20 days from the da y in which it is laid on tile Table of the House of

Representat ives, whieh date sh all be notified by the Board in the

Gazette.

1 This order applies to Radio. TV Signal Amplifien (booster) to S<w<-

be installed as 'mast lIead ' ampli fiers for domestic use in order to amplify

Radiol lV SignaJs in the VHF and UHF bands and provide proper

impedcnce matching betwo:eo the receiving aerials and the relative

domestic RadiolTV set.

In this order -

3.1.1 "uoit" mean, a Rad io/TV Signal Am plifier as defined

in paragraph 2.1 abovc.

3.1.2 "power supply" means the power pack: installed iudooTll

to provide the unit with the required low voltage electricity supply.

3. 1.3 "double ins ul ation" means a method of insul ation by

wllich accessible metal pam are separated from live parts by both

functional arKI prote(:tive insulation.

Th e following spec ifications are to be observed

4.1.1 All units shall be provided with a meta l container which

completely emhroods the constituent oomponents so that tOOre are

no visible parts.

4.1.1 The metal container must be enclosed in a waterproof

plastic 1I0lder.

4.1 .3 The metail cotllainer shall not have any unsoldered or

unscrewed parts andlor sections.

4.1.4 Screening shaH be provided between the various stages

and lor seclions of !Il.: uni,.

4.1.5 T he input and output terminals of the metal shall be

provided with a separate metal cover appropriately screwed to the

main body of the metal container referred to in paragraph 4.1. 1.

4.1.6 All connecting !erminals shall be spaced adequately

from each other w as to aVOid any possible oonl3ct between the

inner and ooter oonductol't of the varioll.~ cables.

5.1.1 The mark ings shall be indelible and legible. and ea:>ily

has been previollsly approved by the Inspectorate of Wireless Telegruphy

as conformillg to the specifica tions laid down in this Order. For this

purpose. three: umples of each Iype or modd shall bcsubmined by Ihe

manufacturer or his representative 10 Ihe uid inspcctorntc. One such

,;ample will be retained by the inspcctol1lle free of charge.
