IN e~ercise of the powers conferred by section 15 of the Hotels and

Catering Establishments Act. 1967. the Minister of Tourism has made

the following regu lations:_

(i ) There ihall be three categories of hostels or similar accom modation which are

stipula ted in Section " 8" of Ih is Pan of this Schedule.

(ii) The premises. which shall be classified in anyone of these categories. shall not

be described u botel. holiday complex or tourist Yillage accordi ng ID the First and Second

(liD The term "bostel" shall be assigned by the Board to describe the premises

falling under the categories which are stipula ted in Section " 8" of this Part of this

Schedule. IL'I the case may be.

Gtnmd Description

(i)

The general description of !he premises fall ing under these categories, shall be

composed of a building or a group of bui ldings situated within a single and defined parcel

of """-

A.ccommodation

(ii)

The minimum requirements for accommodation sball be the following

(a) A fUfficient number of rooms, as the Board may deem fit, for accommoda·

tion each having available a ppropriate number of beds. a cu pboard, chest at dra ..... ers.

chairs and otha items as required by the Board.

(b) The sanitary equipmellt in the premises shall be of a quality commensurate

with the needs of the prem ises.".

The following substi tutions shall be effected in each case ,-~

substituted the words "hotel or hostel"

regulation 2 W, and in regulations 3. 4. 5 m, 6, 7. 8 (l) and (2). 9,

shall be substituted the words "hotel. hostel or cateri ng establish·

(e) in the proviso to regulation 3 for the words "of any hotel or

of any catering estab lishment" th ere ~ha n be substi tutfil the words

"of any hotel, hostel or cate ring establishment";

(d) in regulations 5 (5) and 21 in the English teAt for the word

"hotel's" there shall be substituted the words "hotel's or hostel's";

(e) in regulations 8 !2} and 16 (I) , for the words "every hotel·

keeper'"' the re shall be substitutfil the words "every hotel·keeper.

(It) in regulations 11. 18, 20 (a). (b), (d) and the proviso there-

to. 21, 22 and 23 (\). fo r the words "hotel·keeper" there shall be

substi tule<l the words "hotel·keeper or hostel·keeper'"';
