Government Lottetiea!i (Amendment) Regubtions, 1985

IN exercise of the powers conferred by ~tion 4 of the Govern-

ment Lotteries Act. 1981, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of

Finance and Customs hru; made the following regulations:~

These regul<ltiollS may be cited as the Government Lotteries Citation.

(Amendment) Regulations. 1985. and shall be read and construed as

one with the Governme nt Lotteries Regula tions. 1981 hereinafter LN. 66 of t9o&1

referred to ru; "the principal regula tions".

1. For regulation 3 of the principal regu lations there shall be Sub$titueo

substituted the following

"3. (Il A lottery draw. known as the Grand Lottery. shall

be held on the last Sunday of March, J une. September and Decem-

ber at twelve noon, or as soon as possible thereafter, and in such

place as the Minister may from time to time direct. The prizes

for such a draw shall be those set out in paragraph A of the

Schedule to these regulations.

(2) A lottery draw. k nown as the Weekly Lottery. shall

be held every Friday (except on the Friday preceding the last Sunday

of March. J une. September and December) at twelve noon. or a s

soon as possible thereafter. and in such place as the Minister may

from time to time direct

Provided that when Ihe day of the draw falls on a public

holiday, the draw for Ihat particular week shall take place on the

preceding day, and if such day is also a public holiday. then the

draw for that week shall he held on the following Monday.

(3) The prizes for the Weekly Lottery draw shall be

those sel OIIt in paragraph B of the Schedule 10 these regulations.

(4) Anyone ticket participating in either the Grand

Lottery or the Weekly Lottery, shall only be entitled to one prize

or consolation prize. whichever is the greater.

(5) Notwithstanding the provisions of paragraphs (\),

(2) and (3) of these regulations the Minister may, by notice pub-

lished in the Gazette, inerease Ihe number and/or value of the

prizes or al ter the day, time and place of any particular draw.".

(4) Kull biljett li jieħu sehem jew fil-Lotterija l-Kbira

jew fil-Lotterija tal-Ġimgħa, ikollu dritt biss għal premju jew premju

ta' konsolazzjoni wieħed, liema jkun l-akbar.

(5) Minkejja d-dispożizzjonijiet tal-paragrafi (1), (2) u

(3) ta' dawn ir-regolamenti l-Ministru jista’, b’avviż pubblikat fil- Gazzetta,

iżid in-numru u/jew il-valur tal-premjijiet jew jibdel il-jum, il- ħin u l-post

ta' xi tlugħ partikolari.”.
