IN exercise o f the pOWCB conferred by section 3 of the Census Act ,

1948. the Prime Minister has made the fo llowi ng o rdc r:-

Part I

Particulars Regarding Persons

In respect of eve ry person e nume rated -

(a) full name

(b) relatio nsh ip to head of household or sta tus within the institution. ship o r

vessel. as the case may be;

(c ) sex;

(d) age;

(e) whether single. married. !\Cparated/divo rced or widowed

(f) nationality or citizenship; and

(g) usual place of re~ide nce.

2. In respect of persons aged 10 years o r more -

whether they can read a nd write.

3. In respect of persons 5 years or more -

type of education received or is receiving.

4. In respect of ma rried or widowed Maltese women -

(a) number of child ren born alive;

(b) yearoffirSlmarriage.

5. In respect of e very person aged 16 years or more -

if at work at any time during week ending 19th October. 1985. stating in

respect of that week -

(i) whether working as em ployer, own account worker or e mployee

(ii) in the case of an e mployee whe the r he is e mployed in a supervisory .

professional o r admin istrative .::apacity or is a skilkd worke r or an unskilled

work.::r.

6. In respect of every head of house hold or his wife-

their gross weekly wage/salary or othe r earnings.

Particulars regarding housing accomr1WcWtion

For the purpose of this ordcr -

" person" means a ny Maltese citizen o rd inarily resident in

Malta an d an y foreigner who on the midniglu e ndi ng th e census day shall

have bee n o rdi na rily reside nt in Malta for a pe riod of twe lve months;

" ho use hold" means one person living alone o r tWO or more

persons livi ng toge the r as a family;

" head of househo ld" . in rel ation 10 a household consisting of

two o r more persons. mea ns

(3) the fa the r ;

(c) the e ldest a d ult brother . in default of both the fa ther and

First Schedule to this order by the persons mentioned op posite eaeh

such class in the second column of that Schedul e. Such persons shall

also give the informat ion for the purpose of the census relating to

housing accommodation occupied or held in tenancv by their households

or ex isting within their institution, ship or vessel. as the case may be.

With regard to vaCilnt housing accommodation the information for the

purpose of the census shall be given by such persons as in Ihe opinion of

the Census Officer can give the requisite information

Provided that any person present at midnignt end ing the cen-

sus day on the premises specified in paragraphs 2 and 3 of the first

column o f the First Sched ule 10 this ordcr may clcrt in such manner as is

provided by the Census Regulations, 1985, to fumish the census infor-

mation personally and in that case the persons mentioned in pa ragraphs

2 and 3 o f the second column of thc First Schcdule to th is order shall

furn ish only thc information set Out in paragraph I (a), (b) and (c) of the

Second Schedule hereto.

The particulars that may be required 10 be stated in thc case of Particula"

Provided that the paniculars Iha t may be requi red in respect of

Schedule to this order and that no particulars shall be required in respect

of the accommodation occupied by such persons within the premises of
