Armed Forces of Malta (Regular Force) (Appointments and

Conditions of Service) (Amendment) Regulations, 1983

IN exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 of the Malta

Armed Forces Act, 1970, the President of Malta has made the following

regulations:-

These regu1ations may be cited as the Armed Forces of Malta

(Regular Force) (Appointments and Conditions of Service) (AmendmenO

Regulations, 1983, and shall be read and construed as one with the

Armed Forces of Malta (Regular Force) (Appointments and Conditions

of Service) Regulations, 1970, hereinafter referred to as "the principal

regulations".

Regu1ation 24 of the principal regulations shall be amended as Amends

follows.

(a) in sub-paragraph (d) of p:uagraph (l) thereof for the regulations.

words "the date of attestation," there shall be substituted the words

"the date of attestation, or";

(b) immediately after sub-paragraph (d) of paragraph (1)

thereof there shall be added the foHowing new sub-paragraph

"(e) on an eighteen month engagement with the co10urs

to count from the date of attestation,";

(c) in paragraph (2) thereof for the words "subject to the

provisions of paragraph (3) hereof" there shall be substituted the

words "subject to the provisions of paragraphs (3) and (4) hereof";

(d) in sub-paragraph (d) of paragraph (2) thereof for the

words "fourteen month engagement," there shalI be substituted the

words "fourteen month engagement, or";

(e) immediatcly after sub-paragraph (d) of paragraph (2)

thereof there shall be added the following new sub-paragraph

"(d) the eighteen month engagement,"; and

(f) immediate1y after paragraph (3) thereof there shall be

added the following new paragraph

"(4) Male and female soldiers enlisted on an eighteen

month engagement shall have a reserve liability of twenty

years from the date of terminaiion of their engagement.".

The Second Schedule to the principal regulations shall be Amends the

amended as follows

(a) immediate1y after paragraph (6C) of the Notice Paper regulations.

under Part I there shall be added the following new paragraph

"(6D) For men enlisting on an eighteen month engage·

ment-

You will be en1isted on an eighteen month engagement

and you have a reserve liabi1ity for a period of twenty years

from the da te of termination of your engagement.";

(b) immediately after sub-paragraph (e) of Question 16 of the

the Notice Paper under Part I there shall be added the fol1owing

new sub-paragraph

"(f) A term of eighteen months with the colours to

count from the date of attes tation."; and

(c) immediately after sub-paragraph (e) of Question 16 of the

Attestation Paper under Par t 11 there shall be added the following

new sub-paragraph

"(f) A term of eighteen months with the colours to

count from the date of attestation.".
