Armed Forces of Malta (Regular Force) (Appointments and

Conditions of Service) (Amendm.ent) Regulations, 1982

IN exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 of the Malta

Armed Forces Act, 1970, the President of Malta has made the foIlow-

ing regulations:-

These regulations may be cited as the Armed Forces of Malta

(Regular Force) (Appointments and Conditions of Service) (Amendment)

Regulations, 1982, and shall be read and construed as one with the

Armed Forces of Malta (Regular Force) (Appoiulments and Conditions

of Service) Regu1ations, 1970, hereinafter referred to as "the principal

regulations".

Regulation 24 of the principal regulations shall be amended as

fol1ows

(a) in paragraph (2) thereof, for the words "There shall be no

reserve liability and no terminal benefits on comp1etion of" there

shall be substituted the words "There shall be no terminal benefits

and, subject to the provisions of paragraph (3) hcreof, there shall

be no reserve liability on completion of"; and

(b) immediatcly at the end of paragra ph (2) thereof there shall

be inserted the following new paragraph

"(3) Male soldiers enlisted on a fourteen month engage-

ment shall have a reserve liability of ten years from the date

of termination of their engagement

Provided that male soldiers enlisted before 1st day of

June, 1982 may be accepted for service in the reserve for such

term.".

Immediately after paragraph (6B) of the Notice Paper under

Par t I af the Second Schedule to the principal regulations there shall be

added the fallawing new paragraph

"(6C) For ma le soldiers enlisting after the l st June, 1982 on

a fourteen 1110nth engagement ~

You will be enlisted on a faurteen month engagement and

you will have reserve liability far a period of ten years from

the date of termination of your engagement.".
