IN exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 of the Malta

Armed Forces Act, 1970, and all other powers him enabling, the

President of Malta has made the following regulations:-

These regulations may be cited as the Armed Forces of

Malta (Regular Force) (Appointments and Conditions of Service)

(Amendment) Regulations, 1981, and shaH be read and construed as

one with the Armed Forces of Malta (Regular Force) (Appointments

and Conditions of Service) Regulations, 1970, hereinafter referred to as

"the principal regulations".

Regulation 24 of the principal regulations shaH be amended as

follows

(a) in sub-paragraph (c) of paragraph ( l ) thereof for the

words "the date of attestation," there shaH be substituted the

words "the date of attestation, or";

(b) immediately after sub-paragraph (c) of paragraph (l)

thereof there shaH be added the following new sub-paragraph

"(d) on a fourteen month engagement with the colours

to count from the date of attestation,";

(c)

in sub-paragraph (c) of paragraph (2) thereof for the

words "three year engagement," there shaH be substituted the

words "three year engagement, or"; and

(d)

immediately after sub-paragraph (c) of paragraph (2)

thereof there shaH be added the foHowing new sub-paragraph

"(d)

the fourteel1 month engagement,".

The Second Schedule to

the

principal

regulations

shaH

be

amended as follows

(a) immediately after paragraph (6A) of the Notice Paper

under Part I there shaH be added the following new paragraph

"(6B)

For men enlisting on a fourteen month engage­

ment -

Y ou wiH be enlisted on a fourteen month engage­

ment.";

(b) immediately after sub-paragraph (d) of Question 16 of

the Notice Paper under Part I there shaH be added the following

new sub-paragraph

"(e) A term of fourteen months with the colours to

count from the date of attestation. "; and

(c) immediately after sub-paragraph (d) of Question 16 of

the Attestation Paper under Part II there shall be added the fol­

lowing new sub-paragraph

"(e) A term of fourteen months with the colours to

count from the da te of attestation.".
