Drugs (Contro1) (Amendment) Regulations, 1981

IN exercise of the powers conferred by section 35A of the Medical

and Kindred Professions Ordinance, the Minister of Health and Environ­

ment, on the advice of the Council of Health, has made the following

regulations:-

l. These regulations may be cited as the Drugs (Control) (Amend­

ment) Regulations, 1981 , and shall be read and construed as one

with the Drugs (Control) Regulations. 1976, hereinafter referred to as

"the principal regulations".

Immediately after paragraph (1 ) of regulation 4 of the prin­

cipal regulations there shall be added the fol1owing new paragraph

"(1)A. No specified drug shall be imported, stocked or sold

by wholesale unless it is under the direct responsability of a regis�

tered apothecary.".

For paragraph (1 ) of regulation 14 of the principal regulations

there shall be substituted the following

"(1) No medical practitioner may issue a prescription for any

preparation consisting of or containing amphetamine, or any isomer

of amphetamine, mec1oqualone, methaqualone, methylphenidate,

or phenmetrazine, or any sa1ts or esters of any such drugs, or for

any preparation consisting ,of secobarbital or of a combination of

secobarbital and amobarbital, in either case in tablet or capsule

form, or in sachet or cachet, or of any salts or esters thereof, unless

he has the prior authorisation in writing by the Superintendent.".

For the First and Second Schedules to the principal regula­

tions there shall be substituted the following
