Post Office Private Boxes (Amendment) Regulations, 1980

IN exercise of the p owe rs conferred by s ect io n 3 of th e Post Office

Act, 1975. the Minister of Development, E n e r g y Port and Te l ec ommu

,

nications, with the c o n cu r r en ce of the Minister of Fi na n c e, Customs and

P e ople s Financial Investments, has made the following regulations :-

l. (1) These regulations may be c i t e d as the Post Office Private

Boxes (Amendment) Regulations, 1980, and shall be read and co nst r u e d

L.N. 40 of 1976 as o n e with the Post Office Private Boxes Regulations, 1976, hereinafter

referred to as "the p ri n c ip a l regulations".

(2) These regu l a t i o n s shall co m e into force on the f if t ee n t h

day of October, 1980.

Reg. 2 Amends regulation 6 of follows: the pri nei pal regulations. — Post Office Private Boxes (Amendment) Regulations, 1980 Open official source

Regulation 6 of th e principal r e gu l a t i o n s shall be amended as

(a) for p a r a g r a ph (l) thereof there shall be substituted the

fol1owing

"6. (1) The Postmaster General shall make ava i l able

,

free of charge, one k ey to a new box-holder whenever a private

delivery box is provided with a lock. The P o s t m aster General

may req u i r e a box-holder to deposit a sum of n.50,O before

p rovidi n g a ke y ; such deposit will be re fu n d e d to the box

holder at the termination of the lease u p o n the surrender of

the key and the payment of any outstanding r ent Additional

to the box-holder on payment of 25c for each such key on

a p p li c ation by the box-holder. "; and

(b)

for p a r agr a ph (3) thereof there shall be substituted the

following

"(3) A l l keys to a private delivery box shall re m a i n the

pr o p e rt y of the Postmaster Ge n e r a l and are to be surrendered

to him by the box-holder on the termination of the renting of

a p r i v a te d eli ve r y box failing w hi c h the Postmaster General

shall charge the box-holder f2.50,0 or shall have the deposit, as

pr o vid e d under p a ra g r a ph (l) of this regulation , a pp ro pr i at e d

for the r e p l ace m ent of the lock.".
