MALTA ARMED FORCES ACT, 1970

(ACT NO. XXVII OF 1970)

The Armed Forces of Malta (Designation, Command and

Establishment) (Amendment) Order, 1980

IN exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 of the Malta

Armed Forces Act, 1970, and all other powers him enabling, the

President of Malta has made the following order:-

(1) This order may be cited as the Armed Forces of Malta

(Designation, Command and Establishment) (Amendment) Order ,

1980, and shaH be read and construed as one with the Armed Forces

of Malta (Designation, Command and Establishment) Order, 1970,

hereinafter referred to as "the principal order".

(2)

This order shall come into force on the 31st March,

1980.

Immediately after paragraph (3) of article 3 of the principal

order there shaH be added the following paragraph

"(4) N otwithstanding the foregoing provisions of this ar­

ticle, the Minister responsible for defence may place any part of

the Armed Forces of Malta under a separate command and in

any such case he may appoint a separate commander and in

respect of such part of the Armed Forces of Malta, the fore­

going provisions of this article and of articIe 4 of this order shaH

apply as if references to the Commander, Armed Forces of Mal­

ta, were references to the co mmander of the part of the said

forces placed under a separate command.".
