ACT No. XL of 2018

AN ACT to amend the Local Councils Act, Cap. 363, in order to

enable persons who are of sixteen years of age to perform duties as

Assistant Electoral Commissioner during the Local Councils

Elections.

BE IT ENACTED by the President, by and with the advice and

consent of the House of Representatives, in this present Parliament

assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-

The short title of this Act is the Local Councils (Amendment) Short title.

Act, 2018, and this act shall be read and construed as one with the

Local Councils Act hereinafter referred to as the "principal Act".

Article 5 of the principal Act shall be amended as follows

(a) in the proviso to sub-article (1) thereof, for the words

"in the electoral process." there shall be substituted the words "in

the electoral process, other than the duties of Assistant Electoral

Commissioner."; and

(b) in the proviso to sub-article (2) thereof, for the words

"in the electoral process." there shall be substituted the words "in

the electoral process, other than the duties of Assistant Electoral

Commissioner.".
