AN ACT to update various legislation by transferring certain

responsibilities therein contained to other authorities in order to

reflect, by legislation, the current situation with regard to such

responsibilities.

BE IT ENACTED by the President, by and with the advice

and consent of the House of Representatives, in this present

Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-

Part I

Amendment of the Widows’ and Orphans’ Pensions Act

The amendments contained in this Part amend the Amendments to

Widows’ and Orphans’ Pensions Act, and they shall be read and the

Sub-article (1) of article 2 of the principal Act shall be Amendment of

article 2 of the

substituted the word "Minister"; and

(b) immediately after the definition "Government" there

shall be added the following new definition

" "Minister" means the Minister from time to time

responsible for the Department of Social Security, and

includes any officer designated by the Minister for a

particular purpose or class of purposes;".

In sub-articles (2), (3) and (4) of article 4 of the principal

Act, for the words "the Accountant General", wherever they occur,

there shall be substituted the words "the Director General (Social

Security)".

Sub-article (1) of article 6 of the principal Act shall be

amended as follows

(a)

for the words "the Accountant General", wherever

they occur, including in the proviso thereof, there shall be

substituted the words "the Director General (Social Security)";

and

(b) for the words "Minister responsible for finance"

there shall be substituted the word "Minister".

The amendments contained in this Part amend the Pensions Amendments to

Ordinance, and they shall be read and construed as one with the the

Pensions

In sub-regulation (1) of regulation 22A of the Pensions

Regulations inserted in the Schedule to the Ordinance, for the words

"Minister responsible for finance" there shall be substituted the word

"Minister".

The amendments contained in this Part amend the Armed
