ACT No. XXXI of 2016

AN ACT to amend the Conduct Certificates Ordinance, Cap. 77.

BE IT ENACTED by the President, by and with the advice and

consent of the House of Representatives, in this present Parliament

assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-

(1) The short title of this Act is the Conduct Certificates Short title and

Ordinance (Amendment) Act, 2016, and this Act shall be read and commencement.

(2) This Act shall come into force on such a date as the

Minister responsible for the Police may by notice in the Gazette

establish, and different dates may be so established for different

provisions or different purposes of this Act.

Article 3 of the Ordinance shall be amended as follows

(a)

in sub-article (1) thereof, for the words "at the

instance of" there shall be substituted the words "at the request

of";

(b) sub-articles (2), (3) and (4) thereof shall be re-

numbered as sub-articles (3), (4) and (5) respectively;

(c)

immediately after sub-article (1) thereof, there shall

be added the following new sub-article

"(2) Requests for the issue of conduct certificates

referred to in sub-article (1), shall be made by the

applicant himself either at the Police General

Headquarters, which requests shall be processed and the

conduct certificate shall be issued to the applicant

immediately, or by means of electronic means requesting

that the conduct certificates be delivered by post at the

address of the principal place of residence as indicated on

the identity card

Provided that the Commissioner of Police shall only

be responsible to dispatch by post the conduct certificate

and shall not be responsible for its delivery to the

applicant."; and

(d) in sub-article (4) thereof, as re-numbered, for the

words "sub-article (2)" there shall be substituted the words

"sub-article (3)".
