BE IT ENACTED by the President. by and with the advice and

OOTI$ent of the House of Representali¥e$ , in this proen t Parliament

assembled, and by the authority of the ume. u foUows : -

This Act may be cited as the Broadcasting (Amendment) ACI.

1993, and shall be read and conmued u one with the Broadcasting Act ,

1991 , hereinafter referTCd to u Mthe principal Act ".

Ucensed under this Act

Provided that the Government may , th rougb a

oompany designated by the Minister , by noticc in the Gazelle , as.

oompany providing public broadcasting services, own , control, or

be editoriaLLy responsible r or any n um be r at broi!dc:asti ng services

Provim:d further that the Government may IIOt

own any broadt:asting services or participate in their ownership

other than through such company, and that 110 other company in

whicb the Government has a COfItrollillJ interest may own voting

shares in a oompany providing any bmadcastingservices.

(b) For the purposes of Ihilwbsection the simultaneous

transmission of the same broadcasting service by wire end over the

air shall be considered as one broadcasting service.

(e) For the purposes of I licenc::e for a te~vision

broadcutinll service, until such time as regulations an; ma<k in

terms of section 3S, the Founh Schedule 10 thi$; Act shall musatis

mUllllldis be applicllble also 10 a television broadcasting service. ",
