BE IT ENACTED by the President , by and with the adYioe and
conse nt of the HOllse of RepresentatiYe5, in this present Parliame nt
assembled, and by the au thority of the same, as foUows:-
I. ( I) Th is Act may be cited as the Identity Card (Amendment )
Act , 1993, and shall be read andconmued asone with the IdeRlity Card
Act, here inafte r refe rred to ai "the principal Act~.
(2) This Act ilI all come into force ()f1 such da te as the Prime
Minister may by notice in the Gazelle establish and differentdatcsmay
be 110 established for differen t sections and provisions thereof.

Section 5 of the principal Act ihaU be amended as follows
(a) in subsection (I) thereof, for the words Mwith the stamp
of such officer." there shall be substituted the words '"wi th the
stamp of such officer or shall be otherwise luthentio.:ated as may be
prescribcd . ~;
(b) insubsection(2)the reof_
(i) for Ih~ words from "the date on which its wa1idity
e:<piTCS;" to "pan iculan concerning such penon:~ there shall
be iubstituted the words Mthe date on wh ich its .... Iidity
commences Bml e~pircs. and an identi fying number of the
holder which may ei ther be his Act of Binh number giwen by
the Public Registryor any Othe r number as maybe B5SiJVled to
him by the authoriseu offi~r: il shall moreove r . wherever
practicable. rontain the signature of the holder or a
repmd...aion of a rccc:n l signatu re of lite holder. and also the
fo llowing p~rticulars conce rning such perwrl: ~;
(ii) for paragraph (b) (heROf. there shan be subsl ilUlCd

Provided that no infomullion which is not included under
subsection (2) hereof may be so included .".
Section 60f the principal Act shall be amended al follOWS
(a) in subsection (1 ) thereof. for the words ~a period of five
years only~ ~re shall be substituted the words ~a period of ten
years or such other period as may be prescribed .~; and
(b) immediately after tile proviso to subsection (1) thereof.
there ~hall be added the following
~Provided further that whe re an identity card has been
issued in respect of a pe rson unlkr the age of eigh teen years
such identity card shall cease to be valid upon the eightunth
binhdayof the holder thereof. ~.
