BE IT ENACfED by the President. by and with the advice and

consen t of the House of Representa tives. in this present Parliament

aSSo!mbled. and by the authority of the same. as follows:-

I. This Ad may be cited as the Inferior Courts ( Re-designation) SborI <itle ODd

Notwithstanding the provisions o f any o ther law, the Court of

Magist rat es of J udicial Police for the Isla nd of Malta. the Court of

Magistrates of J udicial Police for the Isla nds o f Gow and Com ioo. and

the Court o f Judicia l Police shall hereinafter be styled the Cou rt of

Magistra tes (Malta) or th e Court o f Magistrates (Goro). as the case may

So howeve r that in any act filed in an y such court in its crimi nal

jurisd ict ion there shall be stated in slIch act that it is being filed in such

court as a Cou rt of Criminal J udicature or as a Court of Criminal Inquiry

as the case may be. and in any act filed in the Court of Magistrates

(Gow) in its civil jurisdiction the re shall be stated that such act is being

filed in its infe rior jurisd ict ion, or in its superior civi l or com mercial

jurisdiction, or as a cou rt of voluntary jurisdiction. or in its inferior o r

superior appellate jurisdiction, as the case may be.

3, Where in any law there is a reference to the Court of Il<f._t<>

Magistrates of Judicia l Police for the Isl and of Malta. the Court of ;'

Magistrates of Judicial Police for the Islandsof G07..o and Cominoorthe

Court of Judicial Police, that reference however made sha ll be deemed
