BE IT ENAC r ED by Ihe Preside nl , by and with Ihe advice and

oonr.en l of tile House of Representatives. in Illis present Parliame nt

assembled, and by the aUlhori ty of th e same, as follows:-

I. This Act may be cited as the Local Loa n Act. 1989.

(I) Subjcct 10 Ihe provisions of Ihis Act, Ihe Government of

Maha may raise in Malta by wa y of 1000n a sum of money nOI exceeding

five million ' .... 0 Ilundred thousand Maltese lifi.

(2) For Ihe purpose of raising th e loa n as aforesaid. the

Minister responsible for finance is hercby aut horised to issuc stock in

Malla under thc provisions of the Local Loans ( RegiSlered Stock and C.p. 161.

Securitics) Ordinance; and Ihe loan m:!!Jl' "mkT Ih~ provisions of Ih i,

section shaU be.made on such lerms ,,,,d conditions as Ihe said Minister

may approve.

J . Any money borrowed under the authority of this Act shaH be

appropria ted and applied for the purpose of makin g g<Xld the deficit
