BE IT ENACTED by the Presidenl, by and with the advice and

consen t of the House of Represe ntatives, in this present Parliament as-

sembled. and by the authority of the same, as follows :-

This Act may be cited as the Aesthetic Buildings (Amend- SOOn title .

ment ) Act, 1989, and shall be read a nd construed as one with the Aes- Coc>.I'1.

Section 4 of the principal law shall be amended a!; follows:-

(a) the present provision shall be renumbered as subsection

( I) thereof; and

(b) immediately after subsection ( I ) thereof as renumbered

there shall be added the following

In sections 10, 11 and 14 of the principal law , for the words

the coming illto force of Ihis Act would fall to be governed by sections

submit to the Aest hetics Board a design as is refe rred 10 in that said sec-

lion and the provisions of sectio ns 4, 6, 8 and 90fthe principal law shall

apply lIS if such Satcl ~ te Television Receiving Termina l were to be in·

stalled afte r the coming into foree of this Act.

(2) Where the At;$thetics Board or the Court of Appeal, as

thecase maybe , rejector amend the design a5submi11ed in terms o f sub-

section ( I )ofthis scction, such person shall within two months from the

deebion of the Aesthetics Board or whe re an appeal has been e ntered,

of the Court of Appeal, remove the Satellite Television Receiving Ter·

minal o r alter it in acoordaoce with the amended designs, as the case

may be.

(3) Any person who acts in contl1!lvention of or fails 10 corn·

ply with Ihe provisions ofsubscctiomi (1 ) and (2) of this scction, shall be

guilty of an offence, and shall on conviction be liable to the punishmem

laid down in the Criminal Code for contraventions and the coun shall , in

addition to any such punishment, order the offender 10 comply with the

law within such time as the co urt may consider sufficient for the pur·

(4) The time originally prescribed by the court may for just

cause be extended o n the application of Ihe person convicted of the of·

fence .

(5) If the person 50 convicted fails to carry out MKh orde r

within the time 50 prescribed or extended, he shall be liable to a fine

(ummmdo) not exceeding ten tiri for every day during wlUch the o ffence

continllC$ , and the cou rt may d irect the removal or alteration of the

Satelli te Television Receiving Terminal by the Department of Public

Works at the expense of the person convicted of l he offenoe.
