ACT No. XV of 1988

AN ACTIQ providefQT/heestoblishmemofthe Filf/a Natural Reserve.

BE IT ENACTED by the President, by and with the advice and

consent of the House of Representatives, in this present Parliament

assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-

(I)

This Act may be cited as the Filna Nature Reserve Act, SIIon ,ilk . nd

(2) The provisions of this Act shall come into forceon the 1st

June. 1988.

In this Act, unless the context otllcrwise requires _

"nOTa and fauna" are to be construed as meaning all plants and

animals, resident or migratory , species of which exist in the wild

Slate on t he Island of Filfla;

"Minister" means the Minister responsible for the

environment_

All the surface area of thc Island of FiHla shall be a protected E>I.bl;>IIin, F;I~'

nature reserve.

hunting of any species of flora and fauna in or from the Fitna nature 110

reserve, is prohibited

I'rovided that the Minister may remove such prohibition for the

purpose of scientific study in particular cases.

S. (1) Access to the Fitna nature reserve shall be by permir.sion

to be granted by the Minister for educat ional and scientific purposes.

(2) In granting permi ssion the Mini ster may impose such

conditions as he may deem appropriate.

(3) Members of tile Police and tile Anned Forces of Malta

Any eerson who contravenes any of the provisions o f this Act

or any condition of a perm ission gra nted under the last preceding

sect ion, shall be liable on convinction to im prisonmen t for a term not

exceeding three months or to a fine (mu/la) not exceeding five bundred

Malt ese firi or to both such imprisonment and fine.
