AN ACT further to amend the Telemalta Corporation Act, 1975.

BE lT ENAC1'ED' b:y the President, by and with the advice and

'c6nsent of the HoiIse of Represelltatives, in this present Par1iament

assembled, and by the authority of the same, as foHows:-

~ :t. This Act maybe ci.ted as the Telemalta Corporation (Amend-

ment) Act, 1983- and shall be read and construed as one with the Tele-

malta Corporation A:ct~ 1975, hereinafter referred to as "the principal

mhux aktar tard mill-ewwel seduta tal-Kamra wara erba' ġim­

għat minn meta jirċievi kopja ta' l-estimi

tat-Telema1ta, li

għalihom hemm referenza fis-subartikolu (3) ta' dan l-artikolu,

jieħu ħsieb li dawk l-estimi jitqiegħdu quddiem il-Kamra tad-

Deputati flimkien ma' mozzjoni li l-Kamra tapprova l-imsem-

mija estimi. Jingħataw mhux aktar minn żewġ seduti biex

fihom isir id-dibattitu fil-Kamra fuq dik il-mozzjoni; u kemm

il-mozzjoni kif ukoll l-approvazzjoni ta' l-estimi mill-Kamra

jistgħu jkunu sew b'emendi għall-estimi jew mingħajrhom.".

,Section 20 of the principal Act shall be amended as follows

(a) in subsection (f) thereof for the words "after the end of

each such year" there shall be substituted the words "before the

For section 2 L of the 'principal Act there shall be substituted

the following

2\. (L) Telemalta shall cause to be kept proper ac-

counts and other records in respect of its operations, and shall

cause to be prepared an interi1TI statement of ~cco1.l;nt for the

first period of six mOl1ths and a statement of account for the

se~ond perlod of six months in respect of each financial year.

(2) The accounts of Telemalta shall be audited by

ao audi tor or auditors to be appointed by it and approved by

the Minister

Provided that the Minister may require the books

and accounts of the Corporation to be audited or examined

by the Director of Audit who shall for this purpose have power

to carry out such physical checking and other verifications as

he may deem necessary.

(3) The interim statement of account in respect of

the first period of six months of each financial year, duly

audited, shall be adopted by the Board not later than six weeks

after tbe end of sucb period and sha11 be transmitted forth-

with to the Minister together with a copy of any report made

by the auditor or auditors on that statement 01' on the accounts

of tbe Corporation.

(4) The statement of account in respect of the

second period of six months of each financial year, together

with the statement of account in respect of the whole financial

year, both duly audited, sha1\ be adopted by the Board not

later than ten weeks after the end of the financial year, and

shall be transmitted forthwith to the Minister together with a

copy of any report made by the auditor of auditors on those

statements or on the accounts of the Corporation .

(5) Before the end of each financial year, the

Minister shall cause to be laid on the Table of the House of

Representatives , together with the motion laid before the

House under section 20, a copy of the foUowing

(a) the interim statement of account and any report

in respect of the first six months of the current financial

year;

(b) the statement of account and any report in res-

pect of the second six months o~ the immediately preced·

ing ,financial year; and

(c) the statement of account and any report in Tes-

_ pect of the immediately preceding. ,full financial year

In respect of the financial year beginning on 1st October, 1983,

section 2 of this Act shaH apply as if it required the Board' ta adopt the

estimates 'for such year fiot later thanthe 21st dayof September, 1983

and the 'Minister to cause to be laid before the House the c6py of such

estimates not later than the 26th day of September, 1983. '

verifika fiżika u l-verifiki l-oħra li jidhirlu meħtieġa.

(3) Il-prospett ad interim għall-perijodu ta'l-ew\\'et

sitt xhur ta' kull sena finanzjarja, verifikat kif im:iss~ għandu

jkun adottat mill-Bord mhux aktar tard minn sitt ġimgliat

wara t-tmiem tal-perijodu msemmi u jintbagħat minnufih

lill-Ministru flimkien ma' kopja ta' kull rapport magħmul mill-

uditur jew udituri dv,mr dak il-prosp,e tt jew il-kontijiet tal-

Korporazzjoni.

(4) Il-prospett għat-tieni perijodu ta' sitt xhur ta'

kull sena finanzjarja, flimkien mal-prospett għas-sena finanz-

jarja kollha, it-tnejn verifikati kif imiss, għandhom ikunu

adottati mill-Bord mhux aktar tard minn għaxar ġimgħat wara

t-tmiem tas-sena finanzjarja , u għandhom jintbagħtu mjnnufih

lill-Ministru flimkien ma' kopja ta' kull rapport magħmul

mill-uditur jew udituri dwa r dawk il~prospetti jew dwar il-

kontijiet tal"Korporazzjoni . ~

(5) , .Qabel it-tmiem ta' kull sena finanzjarja, l-

Ministru għandu jara li jitqiegħdu quddiem il-Kamra tad-

Deputati flimkien mal-mozzjoni li titqiegħed quddiem il-Kam-

ra taħt l-artikolu 20, kopja ta' dawn li ġejjin

(a) il-prospett ad interim u r-rapport dwar l-ewwel

sitt xhur tas-sena finanzjarja kurrenti;

(b) il-prospett u kull rapport dwar it-tieni perijodu

ta' sitt xhur tas-sella, finanzjarja tas-sena ta' qabel;'

(ċ) . il-prospett u kull rapport dwar is-sena ' finan-

zjarja sħiħa ta' qabel;
