AN ACT lur/her 10 amend/he Civil Oxle. Cup. 23.

BE IT ENACtED by tbe Pre~ident, by and with the advice and

consent of the House of Representative8. in Ihis present Parliament

assembled . and by the authority of the same. as follo\Vl:-

This Act may ~ cited as the Civil Code (Amendment) Act,

1982, and shall be read and construed as one with !he Civil Code, here·

inafter referred 10 as " the principal law".

For subs«tion (2) of section 27~ of the principal law there

.hall be oubotiluted the following

Each volume of such regi.o;ters shall be numbered

from the firsl to the last page. The 1asl page of each volume shaH

contain a statement as to the total number of its pages; such

slatoment shall be signed by the Director of Ihe Public Regislry or

one of the Assistant Directors ....

Seclion 290 of the principal law shall be amended as follows

(a) the present subsedion (2) thereof &hall be renumbered as

subsection 0); and

(b) immediately afler subsection (I) thereof there shaH be

added Ihe followil1 g new subsection

"(2) It shall be lawfnl for any person 10 bring an

action for the registration of the nBme or names. which name

Or names the persOD shall nave used or shall have been used

for him by nis family. and which shall be de.:lared by the

Court as being the name or names by whi~h Ihe perron has

been consistently called. in substitution of the name or names

appearing on the relative act of birth as the name or nameS

given 10 the child and the name or name;!; by which Ihe child

is IQ be called.

The action mentioned in this subsection shall

include a request tbat the cbange effected in lhe act of birth

through the regi~ration mentioned in this subsection be

reflected in every act of civil stalus relative to the same person

and. where any , to the children and further descendants of

such person; which acts shall be indicated in the request by

the relative number and year thereof.",

In subsection (4) of seotion 304B of the principal law fo r the section

words "three yearly periods" an d "immediately following the last year of Ih< principal

of the period to which" there shall be substituted the words ··yearly t.w.

periods'· and ·'immediately following the year to which" respectively.

T he provisions of sections 2 and 4 of this Act shall apply to Tran";,...,

registers and corrections in registers made after the coming into for~ pr.".;,;o".

of this Act, even if suoh registers refer 10 acts drawn up prior to the

coming into force of this Act.
