S.I. No. 77/2021 - Social Welfare (Consolidated Claims, Payments and Control) (Amendment) (No. 7) (Treatment Benefit) Regulations 2021

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Consolidated Claims, Payments and Control) (Amendment) (No. 7) (Treatment Benefit) Regulations 2021.

(2) These Regulations and the Social Welfare (Consolidated Claims, Payments and Control) Regulations 2007 to 2021 shall be construed together as one and may be cited together as the Social Welfare (Consolidated Claims, Payments and Control) Regulations 2007 to 2021.

Commencement

2. These Regulations shall have effect from 27 March 2021.

Amount payable in respect of medical appliance benefit

3. The Social Welfare (Consolidated Claims, Payments and Control) Regulations 2007 (

S.I. No. 142 of 2007

) is amended by the substitution of the following article for article 110

“110. The payment to be made by the Minister in respect of medical appliance benefit under this article and article 111 shall be the cost of providing or repairing an appliance, subject to a maximum payment as may from time to time be fixed by the Minister, and the remainder of the said cost, if any, shall be paid by the claimant.”.

These Regulations remove the requirement for the customer to pay 50% of the cost of medical appliance benefit, effective from 27 March 2021, arising from Budget 2021.

At the time of signature the maximum hearing aid grant is €500 per hearing aid and the maximum repair grant is €100. If the cost exceeds the maximum grant the remainder shall be paid by the customer.
