S.I. No. 576/2018 - European Communities (Organisation of Working Time) (General Exemptions) (Amendment) Regulations 2018

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Organisation of Working Time) (General Exemptions) (Amendment) Regulations, 2018.

(2) The Principal Regulations and these Regulations may be cited together as the European Communities (Organisation of Working Time) (General Exemptions) Regulations 1998 and 2018 and shall be construed together as one.

Commencement

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 19th day of December, 2018.

Definitions

3. “Principal Regulations” means the Organisation of Working Time (General Exemptions) Regulations 1998 (

S.I. No. 21 of 1998

).

Amendment of Schedule to Principal Regulations

4. Paragraph 3 (ix) of the Schedule to the Principal Regulations is amended by the substitution of “agriculture, including, inter alia, the caring for or the rearing or the breeding or training of racehorses;” for “agriculture”.

These Regulations clarify that the term “agriculture” in the Schedule to the Organisation of Working Time (General Exemptions) Regulations 1998 (

S.I. No. 21 of 1998

), includes, inter alia, “the caring for or the rearing or the breeding or training of racehorses” for the purpose of those Regulations.
