S.I. No. 183/2018 - European Union (End of Life Vehicles) (Amendment) Regulations 2018

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (End-of-Life Vehicles) (Amendment) Regulations 2018.

2. The European Union (End-of-Life Vehicles) Regulations 2014 (

S.I. No 281 of 2014

) are amended by substituting the following definition

“ ‘the Directive’ means the European Parliament and Council Directive 2000/53/EC of 18 September, 2000 on end-of-life vehicles as amended by Commission Decision 2002/525/EC

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation)

These Regulations amend the European Union (End-of-Life Vehicles) Regulations 2014 in order to give effect to Commission Directive 2017/2096/EU of 15 November 2017 amending Annex II Commission Directive 2000/53 of the European Parliament and of the Council on end-of-life vehicles. The effect of these Regulations is to restrict the use of lead in the manufacturing of materials and components of vehicles where lead-free alternatives are available.
