1. This Order may be cited as the Vehicle Registration Data (Automated Searching and Exchange) Act 2018 (Commencement) Order 2018.

2. The day appointed as the day on which the

(No. 5 of 2018) comes into operation is 28 May 2018.

This order brings into effect, from 28 May 2018, the

Vehicle Registration Data (Automated Searching and Exchange) Act 2018

, which provides for the sharing of vehicle registration data among EU Member States, Iceland and Norway for the prevention and investigation of criminal offences in accordance with Council Decisions 2008/615/JHA and 2008/616/JHA.
